Russian Wood Alliance has been the general contractor of Leseco Nord Ltd since the end of 2008, fully carrying out its obligations on the development of the scheduled cutting area on the territory of Kondopozhsky and Pryazhinsky districts of the Republic of Karelia.

The enterprise carries out clear cutting and selective logging in accordance with the regulations of the Russian Federation in relation to logging, sanitary, fire safety and other requirements.

LOGGING
CTL technology has become widespread in Russia due to its high productiveness and careful attitude to the environment. It provides for the maximum preservation of undergrowth and the second growth of economically valuable wood species, prevention of soil erosion, ensures efficient reforestation. Logging is carried out with the help of a harvester and a forwarder.

The wood is transported directly from the logging site to the processing plants including our sawmill by VOLVO timber trucks.

PROTECTION OF FORESTS
The enterprise takes an active part in the campaign on prevention and limitation of forest fires expansion and is ready to take all possible measures to fight fires in the future.

WORKS ON REFORESTATION
In accordance with the lease agreements, the established volumes of reforestation and forestry works, as well as forest servicing works, are performed on the leased forest plots annually. More than 500 thousand spruce and pine nurselings were planted on the cutting areas in 2016.

The
wood is supplied by the company to the wood processing enterprises of the Republic of Karelia; a part of wood (birch pulp wood) is exported to Finland, and fuel wood is supplied to municipal enterprises.

Compliance with FSC standards

Russian Wood Alliance has been certified as an organization engaged in the sales of timber logged in efficiently managed forests since the year 2006, in accordance with the principles and criteria of the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC).

In February 2019 Russian Wood Alliance Ltd. successfully passed the forest management audit according to FSC principles and criteria.
